Sound effects
A sound effect is a sound other than speech or music, created for use in a plays, films, or other broadcast productions. Sound effects can either be made artificially on a computer, or can be recorded as a foley sound, in which people record the sounds in a studio, using different objects to match whats happening on the screen.
These sounds are made to enhance the audio quality in the video, for example, an explosion noise is added into the video after its recorded, as you couldn't record that when you're filming as the quality wouldn't be good.
An example of sound effects are the ones used in the video "The secret world of foley". In the video the sound recorders use different objects to make sound for the video.
Atmospheric/Ambient sounds
Atmospheric sounds are used to set the scene and enhance the things in that scene. Atmospheric sounds are recorded using a microphone either inside or outside. Atmospheric sounds are made in order to add more depth to the movie, as they help enhance the scene. An example of an atmospheric sound could be leaves rustling. They are recorded to show that its windy and where they are, adding depth to the scene.
Music
Music is a tune, added to a play, film, or any other broadcast, to set the mood and atmosphere of what you are watching. Music can either be made digitally, or with real instruments recorded in a studio. Music is added in order to set the atmosphere and mood of what you are watching. For example, a fast pace creepy sounding song would make the atmosphere intense and scary.
Dialogue
Dialogue is speech in a play, movie podcast and any other different broadcast productions. Dialogue is recorded with a microphone when a person reads their lines in order to establish whats happening. Dialogue is made when the speech of people/ person is recorded. An example of dialogue, is when an actor is talking to another person in a movie. The dialogue clips will then be edited and added to other elements in a video to make the whole thing.
